When you are out shopping for diamond earrings, you will want to keep a few things in mind. First, you want to have an idea of the shape and cut of the diamond. The shape of the diamond could be circle, oblong, square, rectangular, pair, or even flower shaped. The cut determines how much the diamond will sparkle. Many people will go with the princess cut because it will shimmer in practically any type of light. Then you will want to determine the type of earrings that your girlfriend or mother would like.

When you are looking at earrings for a special someone you will want to know rather or not they use pieced earrings or clip on earrings. If you need to purchase clip on earrings, you will want to go to a good jewelry dealer because good clip ons are harder to find. It wasn't until the seventies or eighties that people started to pierce their ears and since then, more people have their ears pieces.

So clip on earrings aren't as easy to find. You will also want to decide rather or not you want to have a solitaire diamond or have a diamond surrounded by other gems or jewels that will enhance the look of the earring. If you are going to buy a pair of earrings that are clustered with other jewels, you will most likely find diamonds with rubies, emeralds, and sapphires. For a classy lady like your mother you may want to go with a diamond and pearl look. Although diamonds are a girl's best friends, diamonds with pearls are what make a classy look.

Even if you are on a budget and still want or need to get your lady friend or mother a gift, you can still get a good pair of diamond earrings. You should be able to find diamond earrings in any price range and the diamonds should be of good quality; however, you have to watch for signs of a fake diamond. If you are purchasing any type of diamonds for your wife or girlfriend never by diamondic or zirconia's, because they nice looking glass. It's okay for your mother because you don't have to impress your mother; she'll always love you, but don't disappoint your girlfriend with a fake.
